HC Deb 21 November 1939 vol 353 cc1044-5W
Sir A. Baillie

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered permitting the export of at least 40,000 tons of surplus English culinary apples to Belgium where there would be a ready market; and what is his decision in the matter, especially in view of the beneficial effect on our sterling position in relation to that country?

Mr. Stanley

Subject to scrutiny as to possible re-export to the enemy, licences will be issued freely for the export of apples to Belgium.
