HC Deb 21 November 1939 vol 353 c1063W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for War what provision is made for canteens for those men who, having been selected from the ranks to join the officer cadet units, are not allowed any longer to use the canteens available to the ranks from which they have come and are not able to become members of an officers' club until they have got their commissions?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

There is no authority to prohibit the use of their regimental institutes or canteens by soldiers selected for officer cadet units. When they join the cadet units, they will use the institutes allotted to these units.
