HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 c557W
Colonel Ponsonby

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in calling for tenders for the supply of coffee for the troops, he will stipulate that the bulk of the coffee, say 80 per cent., shall be of Empire origin?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Under the normal system of open tender, the Department would purchase Empire coffee to the full amount of its requirements, subject to quality and to the price being within the normal preference limits.
