asked the Home Secretary whether he will arrange to publish a list of the headquarter staff of the department under Sir Walter Monckton, K.C., other than clerical and messengers, stating the salary of each officer and his previous occupation.

Sir J. Anderson,

pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 26th October, 1939; Col. 1569] supplied the following statement:

The Press and Censorship Bureau under Sir Walter Monckton is organised in two divisions for the distribution of news from Government Departments and for Censorship.

Apart from Sir Walter Monckton, the Director-General, whose salary is not yet fixed, the numbers, gradings, salaries, and previous occupations of the higher ranks of officers in post on 1st November are set out below:
