asked the Prime Minister whether it was with the approval of His Majesty's Government that Lord Lloyd was recently engaged on a mission to Spain; and whether a statement can be made of its purpose and achievement?

Mr. Butler

Lord Lloyd recently paid a visit to Spain in his capacity of Chairman of the British Council with the purpose of developing and extending the work of the British Council in Spain. His Majesty's Government were aware of and approved the visit.
