HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 cc2150-1W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Secretary of State for Air what proportion of the officers and sergeant-pilots at present stationed at Cambridge have received their full pay and allowances?

Sir K. Wood

I am informed that, of the officers at present stationed at Cambridge, those who joined at the beginning of September have received their full pay and allowances for that month. Those who did not join until October were not entitled to pay or allowances until the month expired. All the sergeant pilots have been paid on the due dates, namely fortnightly in arrear.

Mr. Perkins

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many of the 30 officers and sergeant-pilots, at present undergoing an instructor's course at Prestwick, have received their full pay and allowances?

Sir K. Wood

All the officers and sergeant-pilots who have completed their instructor's course at Prestwick or who are at present undergoing this course, have received their full pay and allowances with one exception. In this case, pending settlement which should be made in a day or two, an advance of pay has been made.

Mr. Perkins

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many of the sergeant pilots and corporals in C Flight No. 5 Squadron, Hastings, have received full pay and allowances up to the end of September; how many are entitled to the retaining fee as volunteer reservists; and how many have received this money?

Sir K. Wood

All the sergeant pilots and corporals in C Flight No. 5 Squadron, Hastings, have received full pay and allowances up to the end of September. I am making inquiries and will communicate with my hon. Friend further with regard to the second part of the question.
