HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2150W
Captain Strickland

asked the Secretary of State for Air at what rates payment is made for the hire of road motor goods-vehicles by his Department; what are the periods of payment; and to what date full payment has already been issued?

Sir K. Wood

Road motor vehicles are hired on the most advantageous terms obtainable, normally as a result of open competitive tendering. Payments are made as soon as possible after the service has been rendered, or at regular monthly intervals. Generally speaking, full payment has been made for services rendered up to the end of August, 1939, and settlement of accounts for many hirings made later has also been effected.
