HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2138W
Colonel Ponsonby

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether any arrangements are being made for bulk purchases of this season's apple crop for the use of the fighting Services?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I understand that apples are not a general ration of any of the fighting Services, and that their supply is determined by the tastes and demand of individual units. Such demand is normally met by purchases through the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes. I would refer my hon. Friend, however, to my reply yesterday to a question on the subject by my hon. Friend the Member for Tonbridge (Sir A. Baillie).
