HC Deb 26 May 1939 vol 347 c2697W
Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Prime Minister, who is the British member of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations; when he was appointed; and what are his qualifications for the work of the commission?

Mr. Butler

Lord Hailey has resigned his office of British Member of the Permanent Mandates Commission. Lord Hankey was appointed at the meeting of the Council of the League of Nations on 23rd May to the vacancy caused by this resignation. Lord Hankey's qualifications are so well known that I do not feel that it is necessary for me to enumerate them.
