HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 c2544W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he can now say if he has received a report from the school inspector in connection with the unhealthy school at Ramsgate, St. Lawrence extra Church of England school; and what action he intends taking?

Mr. Lindsay

I have received a report from His Majesty's Inspector on the premises of this school, from which it is clear that they are unsatisfactory in several respects. Negotiations for the transfer of the premises, which are in two ownerships, have been in progress between the local education authority and the managers for some time, and the latter have now given notice of their intention to close the school. I understand that the local education authority are considering the question of improving the existing premises, should they become possessed of them, or of providing a new school on a new site.
