HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 c2538W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Home Secretary whether he can state the number up to date, of offences committed against the law attributed to persons belonging to the Irish Republican Army, and the number of persons claiming to belong to this body sentenced for such offences in this country?

Sir S. Hoare

I would refer the hon. Member to the figures given on the 8th May in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Bootle (Mr. Errington). Since 5th May the number of further outrages or attempted outrages attributed to the activities of the Irish Republican Army is 20 and the number of fresh persons connected with such activities who have been convicted on various charges is nine.
