HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 c2533W
Miss Wilkinson

asked the Home Secretary whether he will make inquiries with regard to the action of the police in the disturbances in the streets of Jarrow during the evening of Saturday, 13th May?

Mr. Peake

My right hon. Friend has made inquiries but as he finds that certain persons have been charged with offences arising out of the disturbances, any statement must be deferred until after the hearing of the charges.
