HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 cc2546-7W
Mr. Watson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can state the number of fatal and non-fatal accidents which have occurred in Rosyth Dockyard during the past three months; and whether steps are being taken to prevent similar accidents in future?

Mr. Shakespeare

No fatal accidents have occurred among Admiralty employés at Rosyth during the last three months; two contractors' workmen have, however, been killed at that establishment in this period. The numbers of non-fatal accidents to direct employés and to contractors' employés in the last three months at Rosyth are 34 and five, respectively. These accidents were in the main of a minor character.

Every precaution is taken to prevent the occurrence of accidents at Rosyth Dockyard as at other Admiralty establishments, and all accidents involving loss of life or absence from duty for more than three days on account of disablement are reported to His Majesty's Inspector of Factories in the district.
