asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education how many free meals were being issued to the children in Liverpool schools daily during the month of March; and how that figure compares with the figures for Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and Birmingham?

The returns supplied to the Board show the number of free meals provided during the month, and it is not possible to give comparable daily figures, as the extent to which the provision is continued during the week-ends varies in the five areas in question. I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table giving the available figures.
