HC Deb 11 May 1939 vol 347 cc692-3W
Mr. W. Joseph Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the outcome of the inquiry in connection with the Edinburgh Corporation's application for confirmation of the Edinburgh Ferry Road (Drylaw Mains, etc.) Compulsory Purchase Order, 1938; what area or areas of land were involved; what prices have been proposed or have been paid; how have these lands been heretofore used; and what was the value placed on them in the valuation roll for local rating purposes?

Mr. Colville

The inquiry was an extensive one involving important considerations, and the evidence led is still under consideration by the Commissioner. The land extends to 62.671 acres and is at present used for agricultural purposes. It forms part of a larger area of land and is not separately entered in the valuation roll. No price has been offered by the corporation for the land.
