HC Deb 11 May 1939 vol 347 c702W
Sir W. Jenkins

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether any steps have been taken by his Department to carry out any of the recommendations made as a result of the report upon the schools of Wales by the inquiry held by the hon. Member for Montgomery?

Mr. Lindsay

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Pontypridd (Mr. Pearson) on 5th April. The Board have asked the local education authorities in Wales to supply them at an early date with their comments on the matters dealt with in Chapter VIII of the Report, and are at the same time continuing to urge authorities and managers to deal with individual defective schools. My Noble Friend has made it quite clear that he is prepared to take the strongest possible action if this is found to be necessary in any particular case.
