HC Deb 21 March 1939 vol 345 cc1130-1W
Sir R. Ross

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Treasury are taking legal proceedings against ratepayers in Northern Ireland to pay the cost occasioned by the destruction of customs posts on the borders of Eire; and has he considered that the Minister of Justice of Eire announced, on 2nd March, that the explosives used for the destruction of these posts were carried in public vehicles within the effective jurisdiction of the Eire Government to the customs posts which were destroyed?

Captain Wallace

Claims were presented against the local authorities at the time of the outrages, but my hon. Friend will be glad to know that it has been decided not to pursue these claims.
