HC Deb 21 March 1939 vol 345 c1131W
Mr. Ammon

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the estimated capital value of a £1 a week pension at the age of 60 to civil servants now 30, 35, and 40 years of age, respectively?

Captain Wallace

As I informed the hon. Member on the 28th February last, there are no figures available on which to base a reliable estimate of the proportion of civil servants who live to the age of 60 years. In the absence of such figures it is not possible to furnish a reliable estimate of the capital value at ages 30, 35, and 40 years of a Civil Service pension of £1 a week starting at age 60.
