HC Deb 21 March 1939 vol 345 c1127W
Colonel Ropner

asked the Minister of Agriculture what was the total sum paid under the Livestock Industry Act during the last financial year for which figures are available?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I have been asked to reply. Expenditure under the Livestock Industry Act for a complete financial year is not yet available. For the 12 months ended the 28th February, 1939, the expenditure amounted to £4,364,000. Revised Subsidy Regulations, which came into force on the 1st July, 1938, allow a greater proportion of animals to obtain the quality rate of subsidy, and present expenditure is at the rate of over £4,400,000 per annum.
