Mr. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Labour what number of unemployed persons can be accommodated in the training centres in England and Wales; and the number of unemployed persons undergoing training?

The number of training places available for unemployed persons on the 16th February in Government training and instructional centres in England and Wales was 8,807, and the number of persons undergoing training was 7,267. In addition, at the women's training centres run by the Central Committee for Women's Training and Employment there were 1,142 places available and 957 women in training; and in schemes run by outside bodies but financed wholly or partly by the Ministry there were 329 places and 244 men in training.
