§ Mr. McGheeasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether the Board has given its approval to the acquisition by the Cardiganshire County Council under compulsory powers, of the site of 4.206 acres for school purposes in Panglaise Road, Aberystwyth; whether the site has been acquired, and if so, what was the price paid; for what purpose the land had been used; and what was its rateable value previous to acquisition?
Mr. LindsayAfter considering the report of a Public Inquiry held in July, 1937, the Board confirmed an Order for Compulsory Purchase of the site in question. The Board have not yet been informed of the result of subsequent negotiations with the owner. I am, however, making further inquiries. I understand that the site has not been assessed for rating purposes, as it is agricultural land.
