asked the Home Secretary whether he will take steps to expedite the granting of permits in cases of refugees who are subject to expulsion orders or threatened with imprisonment and whose papers have been passed by the appropriate refugee committee for submission to the Home Office?

My right hon. Friend is most anxious that there shall be no delay in dealing with such cases and a number of arrangements have been made to ensure that all applications submitted to the Home Office by the voluntary organisations are dealt with promptly.
