HC Deb 14 February 1939 vol 343 c1566W
Mr. Garro Jones

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the concern felt by certain British exporters of paints and putty to New Zealand arising from the operation of the system of import licences in that Dominion; whether he has considered representations from the National Federation of Paint Manufacturers to the effect that certain of the measures taken are contrary to the Ottawa Agreement; and whether he can give any definite assurances to the interests concerned?

Mr. Stanley

I have received a number of representations on the subject of the licensing system in New Zealand from exporters in this country, including the National Association of Paint Manufacturers. These representations are being considered, but I regret that I am not yet in a position to make any statement on the subject.
