HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 cc1147-8W
Mr. Watson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware that a questionnaire has been sent to tenants of houses in Rosyth asking, amongst other things, the nature of their employment, with the result that tenants not in Admiralty employment fear that they will be required to remove from their houses; and can he give an assurance that the Admiralty, through the Scottish National Housing Company, is taking the necessary steps to ensure adequate housing accommodation for the increased number of dockyard workers without displacing the present tenants?

Mr. Shakespeare

I am aware that a questionnaire including the question referred to has been addressed to the tenants of the Rosyth Garden City. The object of the questionnaire is to enable disturbance of present tenants to be reduced to a minimum should it prove necessary to make some of the houses available for the purpose for which they were originally built, namely the accommodation of Admiralty employeés. The Admiralty and the Scottish National Housing Company are considering whether steps are necessary to increase housing accommodation at Rosyth.
