HC Deb 09 February 1939 vol 343 c1149W
Sir A. Wilson

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will ask the Unemployment Assistance Board to ascertain and furnish details of the number of applicants for unemployment assistance allowances who are in receipt of weekly payments under the Workmen's Compensation Act, as set forth in Appendix V of their last annual report, Cmd. 5752, showing the numbers partially or wholly incapacitated, their age groups, marital status, number of dependants, the periods over which payment was made during 1938, and the total amount paid in order to supplement the amount of weekly payments at present admissible under the Workmen's Compensation Act?

Mr. E. Brown

The number of applicants whose compensation payments are included in the sum of£101,300 referred to in Appendix V of the Board's report for 1937 was 3,080. No analysis of this figure can be given without special inquiry which it would not be practicable to undertake. The Board, however, are collecting certain information relating to a more recent date which will cover some of the points mentioned by the hon. Member and I will communicate with him when this information is available.
