§ Sir W. WomersleyMy right hon. Friend, the Minister of Agriculture is in close touch with my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster with a view to ensuring that an adequate supply of seed potatoes will be available for planting in 1940 by allotment holders and others. In some cases, it is customary for members of allotment associations to buy seed potatoes through their society and so secure the benefits arising from bulk purchase; in other cases allotment holders purchase individually through the usual trade channels as do1332W smallholders and occupiers of private gardens. Maximum prices to be paid to growers have been fixed by the Seed Potatoes (Maximum Prices) Order, 1939.
