HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 cc1305-6W
Captain Plugge

asked the Minister of Labour whether he proposes, as a guide to seasonal workers, to instruct at an early date the different referees and umpires to decide whether, in view of the war, seaside resorts which are mostly filled with evacuees and which are nowadays leading a normal life, should be regarded as having no so-called season?

Mr. E. Brown

I have no authority to issue instructions to the Courts of Referees or Umpires under the Unemployment Insurance Acts, to whom I assume my hon. and gallant Friend refers, but I have no doubt that they will take into account all the relevant facts which are put to them in any case which comes before them in accordance with the provisions of the Acts.
