HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1300W
Mr. W. Roberts

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he can provide a higher maximum price than Is. 7d. for butter produced by farmhouse butter-makers, in view of the fact that prices last year, and in recent years, for this class of butter have been much in excess of the present maximum price?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The matter is under consideration.

Mr. W. Roberts

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether imports of butter from Jersey and the Channel Islands have been prohibited or restricted in any other way?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I understand that the Jersey authorities are arranging to prohibit exports of butter, but similar arrangements have not yet been introduced by Guernsey.

Mr. Ridley

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he can say under what conditions or circumstances an extra butter ration is to be available for invalids who need it?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

This matter is still under consideration.

Mr. Ridley

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what rationing provisions are being made to enable persons such as actors, who are constantly moving from district to district, to obtain a normal butter ration?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

Arrangements are being made for such cases by means of a travellers' ration book.
