HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1306W
Mr. Burke

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that W. Snell, an ex-service man with 16 years' Army service, has been dismissed by the Army authorities from his, post as caretaker of the Burnley Lads' Club, after 29 years' employment, when the military took over the premises, and that subsequently he has been offered the post again at £1 per week; and what does he propose to do to safeguard this man's unemployment pay if he refuses this low wage?

Mr. E. Brown

I am making inquiries into this matter and will communicate with the hon. Member in due course.
