HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1298W
Mr. Markham

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he is aware that difficulties have occurred in Nottingham owing to the unequal distribution of bacon; and if any steps have been taken to improve distribution?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I am aware that difficulties have occurred in some districts owing to the fact that the distribution of bacon has been made on the basis of prewar demand. These figures have now been adjusted on the basis of the number of ration books issued in each area and in those areas where it has been found necessary, which include Nottingham, an additional allotment of bacon has been made. It is hoped that this extra supply will reduce the difficulties which have been experienced. When the results of registration have been collated and are available, inequalities of distribution should disappear entirely.
