§ Sir G. CourthopeEnergetic steps are being taken for the utilisation of the suitable standing timber in this country for pit-wood purposes and for general purposes including building. Broadly, the measures are twofold: first, stimulation of production by the home timber trade, and, secondly, by Departmental production from State and private forests. An active interest is taken in the retention of key-men for the home timber industry and the attraction of further men into the industry.
