§ Mr. Lipsonasked the Minister of Agriculture how many women have been registered for the land army; what bodies are responsible for arranging their training; and how many are already receiving training?
§ Sir R. Dorman-SmithUp to 17th April 5,981 women had been enrolled in the Women's Land Army. It is not the present intention to arrange, during peacetime, courses of training for women volunteers, but the Women's Farm and Garden Association, which is making arrangements for women on its own register to obtain training on payment of their own expenses, has agreed to offer the same facilities, so far as possible, to new volunteers, and it is understood that some 150 women have taken or are taking short courses of instruction.
