§ Mr. McGovernasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether his attention has been drawn to the action and decision of Glasgow Licensing Authority in issuing, as a condition of granting a licence to public-houses, that they shall prohibit the game known as darts; under what authority they have banned such games of skill; and will he make representations to them to withdraw this order, or himself take the necessary measures to safeguard the freedom of Glasgow citizens by limiting the power of the said authority?
Mr. WedderburnI understand that the licensing court have indicated that they do not favour the playing of games in public-houses, but that this has not been made a condition of obtaining a licence. I have no jurisdiction over the magistrates sitting as a licensing court.
