HC Deb 18 April 1939 vol 346 c188W
Mr. Edwards

asked the Prime Minister what steps have been taken in the event of war to provide for the conscription of wealth, and, in particular, whether he has considered legislation to prevent persons not engaged in active service from enjoying a higher remuneration or profit than the men in the fighting services; and to ensure that the whole capital increment of companies, corporations and individuals during a war period shall revert to the State?

The Prime Minister

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement which I made on the 1st June last in reply to a question by the hon. Member for the Barnard Castle Division of Durham (Mr. Sexton). I am sending a copy of this statement to the hon. Member.
