HC Deb 21 June 1938 vol 337 c912W
Sir J. Lamb

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he will undertake that he will not assent to any proposal to scrape and treat the woodwork in the Chamber, Corridors, and Library of the House of Commons as has been done in the dining rooms before the Members of the House have had an opportunity of discussing such proposals?

Sir P. Sassoon

As regards the Chamber and Library of the House of Commons, I have no intention of treating the woodwork. In the matter of the corridors, I do not consider that a discussion, as suggested by the hon. Member, would be practicable, and I hope that I have the confidence of hon. Members and that they will trust me in making what improvements I consider desirable.
