§ Mr. E. BrownSo far as I am aware there are no schemes of land settlement in operation with Government assistance in North-east Cheshire. The Commissioner for the Special Areas (England and Wales) is carrying out an extensive experiment of settling unemployed industrial workers from the Special Areas on the land, and he has appointed an independent committee to review the progress which has been made. The question of extending schemes of this kind cannot profitably be considered until that Committee has reported.
