HC Deb 04 July 1938 vol 338 c44W
Mr. Day

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the fact that there are approximately 7,950 married men in the personnel of the various Defence services who have married under the ages permitted by the regulations of those services, many of whose wives and children are at present drawing relief from public assistance committees, he will consider introducing legislation to lower the marriageable ages of the various Defence services?

Captain Wallace

As has been previously stated in reply to questions, it is not proposed to alter the ages at which marriage allowances become payable to personnel of the Defence services.
