HC Deb 04 July 1938 vol 338 cc43-4W
Sir G. Fox

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is the policy of the Government to see that only adult civil servants are employed on inspectorial or investigatory duties involving detailed inquiries in homes or on busi- ness premises; and, if not, on what grades of any size, minors are liable to be employed in ordinary course on duties of this character?

Captain Wallace

It is not in general the practice to employ persons under the age of 21 years on such duties. A very small proportion of the Assistant Inspector grade in the Insurance Departments of the Ministry of Health and Department of Health for Scotland may be engaged on the inspection of insurance cards whilst under this age.
