HC Deb 21 December 1938 vol 342 c2909W
Mr. Markham

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that ambulance services of certain local authorities are not allowed to attend accidents or to render other services outside their authority area, and that in consequence much unnecessary delay and pain is caused; and whether he will consider setting up a national ambulance service under which the nearest available ambulance must attend an accident or other disaster when called for?

Mr. Bernays

I have no reason to suppose that there is in general any lack of co-operation between the various bodies, including local authorities, which provide a service of ambulances, but if my hon. Friend will give me particulars of any cases which he has in mind, I will gladly make inquiries.
