HC Deb 21 December 1938 vol 342 cc2905-6W
Mr. Hopkin

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware of the serious slump in prices of horses; whether he has considered the resolution from the Carmarthenshire United Shire Horse Society; and what action he proposes to take to ensure that the countryside will not go short of horses in the near future?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend is aware that in recent months the price of heavy horses has shown a downward tendency while the price of light horses has been maintained; he has received and is considering the resolution mentioned in the second part of the question; as regards the third part, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Evesham (Mr. De la Bère) on 14th November.
