HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 c2006W
Vice-Admiral Taylor

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what changes have been made in the naval officers' marriage allowance scheme since the House rose last July?

Mr. Shakespeare

I am glad to have this opportunity of informing the House that it has recently been decided to include colonels Royal Marine in the marriage allowance scheme. This will involve the concession to them of removal allowances. Though flag officers are not included in the marriage allowance scheme, it has been found possible to concede to them removal allowances in respect of home shore appointments; and also to allow them free passages for their wives and families when proceeding to commands abroad, where official residences are provided.
