HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 cc2015-6W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action the Government propose to take to meet the critical position of oats and sheep producers, as set out in the telegram of protest from the National Farmers' Union of Scotland, dated 10th December?

Mr. Wedderburn

With regard to oats I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries on 9th December, in which he indicated the Government's intention to review the degree of assistance afforded to oats under the Agriculture Act, 1937.

With regard to sheep, as my hon. Friend knows from recent replies in the House, my right hon. Friends the Minister and the Secretary of State have the situation closely in mind.
