§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonThe number of agricultural holdings exceeding one acre in extent in England and Wales, as returned by the occupiers on the 4th June, 1938, was 374,246. This figure does not, however, represent the number of farms and horticultural premises, because farms sometimes comprise two or more holdings which, unless they are farmed as one unit, are enumerated separately. Holdings of one acre or less area are also excluded.
