HC Deb 24 November 1937 vol 329 c1228W
Mr. Jenkins

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of persons who have joined His Majesty's Navy during the years 1935, 1936, and to the most recent date during the current year, and whose homes were in South Wales and Monmouthshire?

Mr. Cooper

The information desired by the hon. Member is as follows:

for repairs to this part of the structure. The cause of the wear of the couplings is obscure as they are of the same design as that usually fitted in machinery of this type. For this reason systematic trials of the machinery in association with rudders working are being carried out with repaired couplings pending delivery of new couplings.

The ship cost originally£2,524,148. The amount spent on the large repair of the ship at various dates since completion in 1915 is£966,000 in all, and the cost of reconstruction£2,362,000.
