HC Deb 24 November 1937 vol 329 cc1229-30W
Mr. Mathers

asked the Minister of Transport when preliminary expenditure incurred in carrying out preparations for the projected Forth road-bridge will rank for grant; and what forms of preparatory work he intends to be covered by his undertaking to make grants?

Mr. Burgin

The answer to the first part of the question is that preliminary expenditure necessarily incurred will rank if and when a grant is made towards the cost of erecting the bridge. As to the second part I have in mind at present the settlement of certain technical details regarding the bridge and approach roads which I understand have been discussed between the joint committee and the consulting engineers.
