§ Mr. Manderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action he proposes to take in view of the declaration of the British delegate, the Secretary of State for Scotland, on 30th September, at the meeting of the Drafting-Subcommittee of the Sixth Committee of the League of Nations Assembly, that the Government of this country agrees with the Government of France that the phrase in the resolution dealing with Spain that if a result could not be obtained in the near future the members of the League who are parties to the Non-intervention Agreement would consider earnestly the policy of non-intervention meant not more than 10 days, and in view of the fact that the 10 days have now elapsed?
§ Viscount CranborneThe hon. Member will be aware that the proceedings of this 403W and similar sub-committees are private and that any account of their proceedings which he may receive should be treated with great caution. In this instance the hon. Member's information is entirely inaccurate, but in view of the private nature of the committee's proceedings, I can only state that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland did not make the declaration attributed to him.
