HC Deb 17 November 1937 vol 329 c403W
Viscountess Astor

asked the Home Secretary whether in view of the fact that the chief inspector of factories states in his report that much illegal employment of women and young persons took place in bakehouses, particularly before Christmas, he is taking steps to prevent this occurring this year by more frequent inspection and all other means?

Mr. Lloyd

Inspectors are accustomed to pay special attention about this time to works subject to heavy seasonal pressure where there is special risk of illegal employment. It is intended, however, to issue a reminder drawing their particular attention to the point.
