HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 cc1872-3W
Mr. Jenkins

asked the Minister of Labour whether it is the intention of the Government to establish trading estates in South Wales and Monmouthshire in addition to the one at Treforest; and, if so, is the construction of them to be commenced at an early date?

Mr. E. Brown

It is not the present intention to establish further trading estates in South Wales and Monmouthshire comparable with that at Treforest. The Commissioner has, however, acquired sites at Dowlais and Cyfarthfa which are suitable for a number of factories, and he is also ready in suitable circumstances to exercise his power to provide individual factories and sites elsewhere in the area. Negotiations in several such eases are at present taking place and I hope that they will be successful.
