HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 cc1854-5W
Viscountess Astor

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether, in view of the lack of adequate nutrition surveys in many cases, revealed in the recent report of the Board, he is taking further steps to ensure that in all areas arrangements for the discovery of under-nourished children shall be complete?

Mr. Lindsay

The Board have suggested in paragraph 7 of their Circular 1443, published in December, 1935, that local education authorities would do well to consider the advisability of holding periodical nutrition surveys at which all children riot receiving meals would be passed under review. A number of authorities have acted in accordance with this suggestion, and the Board propose to review the position in other areas with a view to securing a general improvement in the arrangements for the discovery of under-nourished children.
