HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 c1873W
Miss Wilkinson

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has considered the letter from the Jarrow Town Council with regard to the increase in the cost of living; and whether, in view of the fact that all the cases in this town have been recently revised and pared down to the standard of the new regulations, he will take steps to ensure that a 3s. increase shall be given to all cases and as early as possible?

Mr. E. Brown

I have received a copy of the circular letter to which the hon. Member refers and I would draw her attention to my replies to the hon. Member for Llanelly (Mr. J. Griffiths) on 21st October and 4th November. I am informed by the Unemployment Assistance Board that cases are now in course of examination and that increased allowances are being. made in accordance with the Board's instruction, of which a copy was duly placed in the Library, as promised.
